Meet Our Instructors
Tommy Turk, Godan
Chief Instructor
Tommy has over 40 years training in Seibukan Shorin-Ryu and is a fifth-degree black belt. He has competed in numerous tournaments receiving awards for Sportsman of the Year; Competitor of the Year; Instructor of the Year; and State Champion in Kata, Kumite, and Weapons from the Mississippi Karate Association. He placed 3rd at AAU Nationals in both weapons and kumite. He has also received the Shimabukuro Award for commitment to the Dojo Kun principles. Tommy is married and has three children and one grandchild. He also is the Director of Friends For a Cause, a non-profit organization which focuses on improving the community through volunteering and job placement.placement.
Theresa Abadie, Sandan
Assistant Instructor
Theresa is a third-degree black belt and has trained with Seibukan Karate for over 25 years. She has received the Dorokyu Award and the Shimabukuro award for going above and beyond her commitment to the Dojo and the community. Theresa is married and has four children.
Kathy Buchanan, Shodan
Assistant Instructor
Kathy is a first degree black belt and has trained with Seibukan Karate for 16 years. She has competed in the AAU National Championship and received a Gold Medal. She also has competed with the MKA and was State Champion in Kata as well as a Grand Champion. She received the Dorokyu Award for going above and beyond her commitment to the Dojo. She is married with two children.
